Race Challenge

The Spacebar Race Challenge is a community-driven initiative that started off from a simple idea that turned into a thriving experience for Spacebar members. The fun activity was formed by the members, with racing on star-doodled tracks quickly becoming a beloved activity within the community. Special acknowledgement goes to the innovative SKYGG members who pioneered this racing game.

As time passed, the community’s influence became evident on the race track’s evolution. Members began to add dynamic curves and paths into the track while filling out its outline with stars doodled for enhanced visibility. Participants enthusiastically shared their race experiences on Twitter and Discord, driven by the allure of star rewards and the thrill of claiming bragging rights as they raced to finish first.

Building on the momentum generated by the Race Challenge, SKYGG proposed another community event: The Race Party.

About SKYGG

SKYGG is a partner DAO of YGG that focuses on esports and Web 3.0 gaming ecosystems and has been working closely with Spacebar. SKYGG will be helping the team at Spacebar to build its tournaments as a gaming guild bridging the needs of the community and production.

Race Party

The Spacebar Race Party marked a monumental shift from a small community-driven activity to a fully-fledged user-generated content (UGC) game and event. The “Race Challenge” served as the catalyst for the Race Party, evolving from a simple idea into a thriving community experience where users created and raced on their own tracks. We set out to transform the Race Challenge into a small yet esports initiative event, meticulously planning every aspect with the invaluable assistance of SKYGG.

Everything, from the race track to regulations, was created and managed by members of Spacebar. The track design, inspired by the shape of Oceania, underwent numerous changes before reaching its final draft. Spacebar’s unique identity, featuring the placement and collection of stars, was seamlessly integrated as a competitive element. In the final round, touching the stars of the race track incurred a penalty, adding an extra layer of fun and competition.

The Race Party unfolded in two rounds: the Qualifying Round and the Final Round. Anyone from Spacebar could participate in the Qualifying Round, uploading their best race performance for a chance to secure a spot in the Final Round. The Final Round showcased the top 8 participants with the best records, engaging in a short yet impactful competition inspired by winter sports like ski jumping.

To heighten the excitement, we broadcasted the event live on our Discord server, fostering interaction for a fair and intense competition. The live broadcast not only increased pressure and engagement for the participants but also created a vibrant, party-like atmosphere.

This unique experience highlighted the success of experimenting with a community event without additional technical development resources. Spacebar thrives on community collaboration and celebrates user-generated content, inviting everyone to continue embarking on thrilling adventures together!
