In 2022, we founded Spacebar with the goal of realizing our vision of building a truly community-driven Web 3 gaming experience. This vision was shaped by our various experiences in being early adopters and builders in Web 3 and mobile gaming, where we’ve always been comfortable with building novel products with new technologies. Through our collective experiences across Binance, Binance Labs, Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive, Walt Disney, and Tencent — we believe that we can achieve this vision of building a truly community-driven Web 3 gaming experience.
With these experiences and the support of friends we made along the way, we closed a $4.5m seed round in August 2022, where we received support from the best founders and investors in the Web 3 space — including Gabby Dizon (Yield Guild Games), Sandeep Nailwal (Polygon), Balaji Srinivasan (Ex-Coinbase CTO), Jiho Zirlin (Axie Infinity), and many more. Following a year of focused product development, we’re finally ready to reveal Spacebar — and our vision of building an Onchain Playground for Degens, Communities, and Primitives — powered by ERC-6551.
Introducing Spacebar
Spacebar is the Onchain Playground for Degens, Communities, and Primitives — powered by ERC-6551.
A user’s journey on Spacebar begins by selecting a ERC-721 NFT to present their own digital identity, with the user then minting a “Protoship” NFT. The user will also have an opportunity to purchase and upgrade their Protoship Spacebar NFT to an “Ownership” Spacebar NFT — granting them exclusive benefits within Spacebar including point multipliers.
Spacebar Points are the primary resource that users will need to collect — and will eventually be used to determine how $AIR, the governance token of Spacebar, will be distributed.
Squares as Representations of Guilds on Spacebar
Squares are at the heart of Spacebar’s community-driven Web 3 gaming experience. Squares are member-only communities that also double up as physical spaces within Spacebar — where members come together and interact, while accessing all activities within Spacebar from their Square. Squares in Spacebar are ERC-6551 NFTs, and have the ability to accumulate assets on Spacebar. Squares can be likened to a guild, where members of a Square come together to achieve a common objective — including collectively accumulating points, keys, and point multipliers.
Tapping into New Communities via Universes
Spacebar is structured into multiple parallel Universes, each with their own distinct characteristics and content — varying by its chains, economy, theme, and games. A Universe can have multiple Squares.
Our upcoming Universe will be built on Blast, the newly launching L2 by the team behind Blur, tapping into their community of >130k unique users and $1.4b TVL– where we will be one of the first Web 3 gaming experiences to build on Blast Big Bang Competition. Keys
“Keys” in Spacebar are unique Soulbound Tokens (“SBTs”), awarded to users for their achievements within Spacebar — for contributions and actions that contribute to accelerating the Spacebar community. Keys are owned by the Square’s ERC-6551 NFT, and allow each square to build their credentials as they forge a unique identity. Keys also award additional point multipliers.
A Synergistic Relationship with ERC-6551
Spacebar is one of the first implementations of ERC-6551 (Tokenbound Accounts) into a fully-fledged Web 3 gaming experience, with Spacebar being one of the few instances to get exposure to ERC-6551 as a vertical.
ERC-6551 seeks to bring composability to NFTs, bringing new use cases for NFTs as an asset class.

- Asset Ownership: NFTs can be used as a user’s smart wallet, owning other digital assets.
We’re also thankful to have Benny Giang (@BennyGiang), Creator and Core Contributor to ERC-6551, as an Investor and Advisor for Spacebar. Spacebar will continue to be a Contributor and ecosystem partner to ERC-6551, and pursue a synergistic relationship with ERC-6551.
Roadmap
Tapping into New Communities
Some of the strongest communities that we see today in Web3 center around networks — with demonstrations of communities coming together seen recently in Blast, Sei, Monad, and Berachain.
In line with our vision of building a truly community-driven Web 3 gaming experience, we hope to access these communities by building chain-specific Universes — where eventually we envision a Universe for each major network, where those communities can use Spacebar as a way to come together and interact.
As we approach Mainnet, we first intend to tap into Blast’s community of >130k unique users — where we will be one of the first Web 3 gaming experiences to build on Blast Big Bang. Users will have a chance to congregate in our Blast Universe — and also to participate in the Blast Big Bang competition. Per Blast’s announcement, 50% of the Blast airdrop will be distributed to Blast developers including Big Bang winners and dApps on Blast Mainnet.
As we seek to bring attention to our participation in the Blast Big Bang competition, we’ve also curated a set of quests that users can complete on Galxe — to get the full experience of Spacebar’s Web 3 gaming experience.. Completing these tasks on Galxe may entitle users for additional rewards in the future.
Announcing $AIR
Community stands at the heart of the Web 3 gaming experience that Spacebar seeks to build. We believe that the launch of $AIR will allow us to achieve our long-term objectives of decentralization and governance, as we seek to build the most community-driven Web 3 gaming experience. We envision $AIR to also be used as incentives to bring more participants to Spacebar, while creating network effects for our community. Spacebar Points will be a large determinant of how $AIR will be distributed to the Spacebar community.
